This is a genuine, factory-original fuel level indicator gauge designed for 1941 to 1947 Dodge civilian "Job-Rated" trucks (T, V, and W-Series models, including pickups, panel deliveries, and medium-duty trucks).

Front Faceplate Details

  • Part Number Stamp: The factory part number 97502 is crisply stamped vertically along the left margin.

  • Aesthetic Styling: Features the iconic, block-styled vertical "GAS" lettering down the center. The level increments use minimalist square blocks and dashes rather than traditional numbers, finished in a signature cream-yellow font.

  • Faceplate Finish: Painted in the authentic, era-correct metallic blue-green (often referred to as Mopar dashboard bronze/teal) that Dodge used to match the interior cab trim packages of the early-to-mid 1940s.

  • Indicator Needle: Features the original counter-balanced, tapered metal pointer needle.

  •

Rear Mechanism & Housing Details

  • Circuit Architecture: This is an original 6-volt, positive-ground bimetallic thermal gauge.

  • Terminal Interface: Built with a stacked bakelite/phenolic insulation plate supporting three separate alignment pins. It functions on a dual-wire thermal pulse layout balanced between the ignition source and a low-resistance fuel tank sending unit.

  • Calibration Points: Features dual side-mounted hex locking nuts used to adjust the internal heating element tension during bench testing and calibration.

  • Production Markings: Includes the original oval factory inspection ink stamp (QC number 310) on the rear structural casing.
